02Who we are

PrimalFinder is a public directory of primal food sources — farms, dairies, fishmongers, and producers. We do not require user accounts or personal data to use the directory.

03Data we collect

Submissions: If you submit a place via the submission form, we collect the place information (name, address, category) and an optional contact email. This information is treated as public once reviewed and listed in the directory.

Analytics: We use Plausible Analytics and Umami, privacy-respecting analytics tools that use no cookies and do not track individual visitors. We only see aggregate data (visit counts, top pages).

Server logs: Like any web server, we log request IPs temporarily for security and technical diagnostics.

04Cookies

We do not use tracking, advertising, or third-party cookies.

Technical cookies we use:

  • NEXT_LOCALE — Essential technical cookie that stores your language preference. Required for the website to function. Deleted when you close your browser.

Local storage (localStorage):

  • pf-lang-banner-dismissed — Remembers that you dismissed the language suggestion banner. This is not a cookie and is not sent to the server.

05Legal basis for processing

We process your personal data under the following legal bases, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Consent: Place submissions.
  • Legitimate interest: Server security and technical improvement of the service.
  • Legal obligation: Log retention for legal requirements.

  • Place submissions: While listed in the directory.
  • Server logs: Maximum 30 days.

07International transfers

Plausible Analytics processes data within the European Union. Umami Analytics may process data in the United States. We do not transfer personal data to third countries beyond these providers.

08Data sharing

We do not sell or share personal data with third parties for commercial purposes. Aggregate analytics data is processed by Plausible Analytics (EU) and Umami.

09Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, and object to the processing of your personal data. If you submitted information through our form and wish to have it removed, you can request this by contacting us. We will respond within 30 days.
